#Government #Libya #News – The Joint Drafting Committee for the amendment of the LPA holds its fourth meeting

At its fourth meeting in #Tunis, the Joint LPA Drafting Committee, which is comprised of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State, discussed the ideas and proposals of the two sides on the structure and powers of the Presidential Council, the Council of Ministers and the mechanism for selecting presidential members.

The members of the Joint Committee confirmed that these discussions were related to the drafting of amendments to the political agreement without discussing or proposing names for any position in the Libyan state. The UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame attended the session, which was characterized by openness and objectivity, and the convergence of views, according to the UN mission.

The greatest challenge facing the committee, between the House and the Supreme Council of the State, is the amendment of Article 8; which in its current form assigns the functions of the Supreme Commander of the Army to the leadership of the executive committee.

It is noteworthy that the first session for the amendment of the LPA was held last Tuesday in #Tunis, between the Joint committees of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State, under the supervision of the UN envoy to #Libya Ghassan Salame.
