Zintan, a mountain town about 200 kilometers south-west of the Libyan capital Tripoli, signed an agreement to be the twin city of Verona, Italy in the spirit of further investment and the development of both cities.
The two cities officially began their relationship as twin cities after the mayors of Zintan and Verona signed an agreement on October 6 in the Italian city.
The purpose behind this friendly relationship is to strengthen mutual values, promote further investments and developments in both cities through a collaboration between experts in all fields, such as economy, health, education, culture and tourism.
The Municipality of Zintan posted a message on Facebook saying, “Both sides agreed to promote cooperation between local authorities in order to exchange expertise in urban planning, architecture, and capacity building of administrative staff.”
Representatives from both government attended the signing ceremony.
