“Guterres”: Foreign fighters in Libya are still active in violating the ceasefire agreement and calls for their withdrawal.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said that foreign fighters are still operating in Libya, in violation of the October ceasefire agreement.

In a report to the UN Security Council, Guterres added that while the ceasefire continues, the UN mission in Libya has received reports of fortifications and defensive positions in the center of the country, on the road between the city of Sirte, the export terminals, and the Al-Jufra region.

Guterres called for the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya, and an end to violations of the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations, stressing that they are “crucial elements for lasting peace” in Libya and the region, according to Russia Today News Agency.

Guterres stated in his report that progress in Libya must continue on the political, economic and security tracks to allow elections to take place on the 24th of next December.

It is worth noting that the media center for the volcano of anger operation announced on Friday that it had monitored the landing of a military cargo plane at Al-Qordabiya airbase, and since May 1 this year, it has monitored 67 flights for Cham Wings Airlines that transport mercenaries from Syria to Benghazi, explaining that these flights take off from Damascus airports, and the Russian Hmeimim base in Latakia, and landing at Benina airport in Benghazi or at Al-Khadim Emirati base, south of Al-Marj.
