American website: Saddam Haftar asked Israel to support him in the elections.

The American Washington Free Beacon website revealed that Saddam Khalifa Haftar had secretly met with officials at the Israeli Ministry of Intelligence.

According to the site, Saddam is looking forward to reaching the presidential seat in Libya during the parliamentary and presidential elections that will be held next December.

The site adds that Saddam wants to obtain Western support to gain control of the country, noting that Israeli officials have traveled to Libya as a “signal” to support Haftar’s attempt, and that this can be considered as a step to normalize relations between Libya and Israel.

While the Israeli embassy in Washington refused to comment on the report, the website quoted the US State Department as not paying attention to the upcoming elections, and is not ready to take positions on the candidates, adding that Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi is listed under United Nations and US sanctions, and he also remains subject to a pending arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal court.
