Washington calls on all foreign parties to respect the ceasefire agreement and withdraw from Libya immediately.

The US permanent representative to the United Nations, Linda Thomas Greenfield, called on all foreign parties participating in the Libyan conflict to end their military intervention, respect the ceasefire agreement and start withdrawing from Libya immediately.

During the Security Council session on Libya on Wednesday, Linda said that the Libyans demanded the withdrawal of foreign forces from their country from the ceasefire agreement signed on October 23, stressing that the Joint Military Committee recently renewed this request.

“Greenfield” stressed that there are no exceptions for foreign forces in Libya, noting that the continued presence of some forces has become a pretext for the continued presence of others.

In a related context, the American delegate called for accountability for the perpetrators of human rights violations and abuses in Libya, “and to ensure the access of humanitarian workers to those who are in dire need of assistance.”

It is worth noting that the US Secretary of State “Anthony Blinken” stressed last Monday, during a call with the head of the national unity government, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, the need to fully implement the ceasefire agreement in Libya and the expulsion of foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya without delay.
