The Turkish Anadolu Agency said that the aim of the visit of Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha to Paris last November was to try to withdraw France from the axis supporting Haftar.
In a report published on Monday, the agency said that Bashagha’s visit came within the framework of influencing the French position, and taking more neutral and less hostile positions against the reconciliation government, which is the same goal that led Bashagha to Cairo days before that, according to the agency.
The agency stated that Bashagha met during his visit with three “strong” French ministers, namely Interior Minister Gerald Darmanan, Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, “Haftar’s man in the French government,” and Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly.
It is worth noting that the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, during his visit to France, signed memoranda of understanding with French companies, to purchase helicopters and “biometric” systems for use in security and civilian purposes.
Bashagha also had met last week with the high-level Egyptian delegation that visited Tripoli, and discussed with them ways to support the ceasefire agreement and the outputs of the 5 + 5 committee, in order to support the UN efforts on political dialogue.
