The Guardian: The failure of the aggression reduced Haftar’s influence locally and internationally.

The British newspaper, The Guardian, said Friday that the failure of Haftar’s aggression against the capital, Tripoli, made him lose his external influence and his local prestige. Which allowed the voices to rise calling for national reconciliation.

The newspaper stated – in a report – that the United Nations’ urgency to reach a political settlement increased when Haftar, sensing a political vacuum, declared that war with Turkey is imminent and that the Libyans must prepare for it.

It is worth noting that the Libyan army forces announced last June the liberation of the western region from Haftar’s forces, before the United Nations mission announced last November the start of the Libyan dialogue sessions.
