The head of the Justice and Construction Party, Mohamed Sawan, said, Friday, that Haftar’s military project is experiencing a retreat after the balance of power that was achieved in Libya, pointing out that this balance formed an opportunity to return to the negotiating table and search for a political settlement, including those who supported the war and international parties that began to revise their positions, even temporarily, after the failure of the military project is confirmed.
Sawan clarified during his briefing that the party’s vision during this dialogue is based on finding a settlement and real guarantees that are local and not international, they should be fair, take into account all parties and put a reassuring end to the most important concerns, and put an end to the Wagner mercenaries whom Haftar used in his attack on Tripoli, which is not subject to any laws or any international agreements, before it becomes a greater burden that is difficult to get rid of in the future.
Sawan explained that there are parties in the western and eastern regions alike seeking to keep the situation as it is now, indicating the danger of the country’s survival in this way from a political, geographic and institutional division and the presence of Wagner mercenaries that strengthen its presence in the center of the country and the oil fields, and the inability of the reconciliation government for not Providing the simplest services to the citizens and the debts that the government in the east continues to accumulate on the Libyan state, which is in the billions.
It is worth noting that the United Nations Acting Envoy to Libya Stephanie Williams announced, on Sunday, the conclusion of the Libyan talks in Tunis, with the participation of 75 members of the Dialogue Committee.
