The UN Acting envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, said, Monday, that new hope is emerging, and that a historic opportunity for a solution in Libya is possible.
In her speech at the opening session of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunis, Williams added that the forum will be the culmination of three years of hard work, which began with talks between the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State, leading to the holding of transparent and fair national elections, according to a clear time frame agreed upon.
Williams stressed the need to come out of this dialogue with unified institutions, and to end the state of division that exhausted and wasted Libya’s sovereign institutions.
Williams stated that restructuring the executive authority is the primary aim of this dialogue, so that it will then assume responsibility for managing the country and creating the appropriate conditions for elections.
And that the new government creates the appropriate climate for holding elections, launching the path of national reconciliation, combating corruption, and promoting public services that the government provides to Libyans.
It is worth noting that the Libyan Dialogue Forum kicked off, on Monday, in its first session in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, under the auspices of the United Nations mission, with the presence of 75 members from various Libyan components.
