Al-Sellabi: The signing of the ceasefire agreement is a historic step that paves the way for a new phase.

A member of the General Secretariat of the International Union of Muslim Scientists, Ali Al-Sellabi, said on Saturday that the ceasefire agreement between the Libyans is a historic and a step in the right track, and it must be supported.

Al Sellabi confirmed – in an interview with Arabi 21 – that the declaration of a ceasefire that comes a few days before the Tunis meetings between the Libyan factions, for the selection of names for the leading positions , it paves the way for a new meaningful historical stage.

Al-Sellabi explained that the presence of names such as Khalifa Haftar, Aqeela Saleh and Fayez Al-Sarraj in the Libyan political future scene will negatively affect the demand for reconciliation. Because they were associated with disagreements and bloody conflict, and there were great suspicions of corruption around some of them, and they failed to achieve peace.

Al-Sellabi noted the need to choose the political, security, military and service leadership that achieves peace and national reconciliation, noting that there is no future for Libya except through comprehensive reconciliation between its various components.

It is worth noting that the United Nations Mission in Libya announced, on October 23, that the two sides of the 5 + 5 military committee signed an agreement on a ceasefire in Geneva.
