The hearings of the case filed by a citizen of Libyan origin against Haftar before the Federal Court in the Alexandria region of the state of Virginia, USA, began against the background of his war crimes
The Turkish Anatolia Agency stated, on Tuesday, that an American citizen of Libyan origin, “Aida Zghali,” had filed Haftar’s case on charges of committing war crimes and other humanitarian crimes, such as torture, kidnapping and arbitrary assassinations.
The lawyer for “Zghalali” stated that his client was tortured in Libya at the hands of Haftar, who holds American citizenship, a court judge is requested to try Haftar as a war criminal.
In a related context, the President of the Libyan American Federation in Washington, DC, Issam Omeish, said that Haftar has a great past in war crimes and human crimes that will ensure that he is put in prison, and he will have no place in the future of Libya.
It is worth noting that this is not the first case filed against Haftar in the Virginia court, earlier, 6 Libyan families filed a lawsuit against Haftar and the UAE for war crimes and violations of human rights in Libya.
