Erdogan, the solution in Libya, is political, and I call on the international community to hold Haftar and his supporters accountable.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the international community should hold the coup leaders in Libya and their supporters accountable for their crimes that they committed last year, during the aggression on Tripoli.

Erdogan added – during his speech via video link at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, that the attacks launched by Haftar’s militia last year to overthrow the Government of National Accord have brought nothing but pain and destruction to Libya.

Erdogan indicated that the international community was unable to hold the coup leaders and their supporters accountable for the massacres committed and human rights violations, especially the mass graves in the city of Tarhuna.

Erdogan stressed that Turkey was the only country that responded concretely to the Libyan government’s call to help confront Haftar’s aggression, pointing out that Turkey believes that a permanent political solution in Libya can be established through a comprehensive dialogue process between the Libyan parties.

It is reported that the United Nations General Assembly held, on Tuesday, its 75th session via video technology, due to the precautionary measures against the Coronavirus.
