Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry and Russia Sergey Lavrov stressed, on Monday, that there is no alternative to a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis.
In a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sputnik News Agency reported, Shukri and Lavrov welcomed the announcement made by the head of the reconciliation government, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and the Speaker of Tobruk Parliament, Aqeela Saleh, to stop hostilities and start a political settlement process.
In a statement issued by them, the two ministers indicated that the appointment of the United Nations Secretary-General of his special representative in Libya was delayed, considering it to have taken a long time, according to the agency.
It is worth noting that a statement issued by a meeting held in Cairo between Libyan parties and the Egyptian government stressed the necessity of fixing the ceasefire and pushing the political process under the supervision of the United Nations.
