Al-Msilati: The end of any transitional period without resorting to a constitution , drags the country into a new transitional period.

A member of the Constituent Assembly , Itimaad Al-Msilati, clarified, on Wednesday, that the end of the transional stage without resorting to the constitution approved by the elected body will drag the country to a third transitional period that may last for another four or five years.

Al-Msilati added, in a statement to Arraed, that the members of the commission confirmed during a meeting with the head of the reconciliation government, Fayez Al-Sarraj, that the exit from the temporary to the permanent phase can only take place with the approval of the constitution.

Al-Msilati confirmed that the members of the commission who met with Al-Sarraj today called for logistical support, setting an approved budget to carry out the activities of the commission by educating citizens and communicating with the international community to define the legitimacy of the elected founding body.

Al-Msilati praised the efforts of the Presidential Council to overcome the difficulties facing the work of the Commission and discuss its demands to complete the journey of the elected body’s work and get out of the country from the current stage.

It is worth noting that the members of the Constituent Assembly for drafting the constitution voted in April 2016 to approve the draft constitution by majority, in a session at the headquarters of the commission in the city of Al-Bayda, and handed it over to Parliament in 2017 to prepare a law for a referendum.
