Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, on Tuesday, that Russia had produced the first vaccine against the emerging corona virus, and his daughter was among the people who were subjected to vaccine tests.
Putin added, while asking Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, to provide details about the vaccine; “I know that it (the vaccine) works very effectively, forms stable immunity, and I repeat that it has passed all necessary tests.”
For his part, the head of the Russian sovereign fund, Kirill Dmitriev, announced that 20 foreign countries had previously requested “more than a billion doses” of the Russian vaccine, indicating that the third phase of the experiments begins Wednesday.
The head of the fund involved in the development of the vaccine explained that industrial production will begin next September. The vaccine was called “Sputnik V”, and Sputnik was the name of the Soviet satellite, which was the first spacecraft to be placed in orbit, while the letter “V” represents The first letter of the word “vaccine” in several foreign languages.
