The British newspaper “The Daily Telegraph” said that the collapse of the Haftar militias and the Libyan army’s control of the cities of the western region as a whole “left Haftar a political corpse”
The newspaper published an article edited by Roland Oliphant, on Saturday edition, saying that “it is now clear that Haftar will not be the king of Libya or even of the eastern region,” according to the newspaper, adding that Haftar has already been sidelined by the foreign sponsors who finance him.
The newspaper added that Russia and Egypt see that Sirte is necessary for the security of the “oil crescent” in which the oil stocks they currently control, and these parties are likely to fight to preserve them.
It is worth noting that the Haftar militias suffered multiple defeats in the western region, the beginning of which was the liberation of the cities of the West Coast, then the liberation of the Alwittia air base, followed by Tripoli airport and Qasr bin Ghashir, and then continued the collapse of these militias in the southern areas of Tripoli until the completion of the liberation of Tarhuna.
