President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Asarraj, on Thursday called on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to assume its responsibilities and take serious action to protect civilians and secure civil aviation that is under threat from “aggressive militias.”

Asarraj discussed during his meeting with the President of the Supreme Council of the State Khaled Almishri the importance of restarting the Maitiqa International Airport and resuming flights, and taking all actions and measures to achieve this safely.

It should be mentioned that, on Wednesday, a spokesman for Hifter Ahmed Almismari threatened to target civilian planes departing and arriving at Maitiqa International Airport in Tripoli.
