The European Union refused on Friday to expel the Libyan ambassador accredited to them, in light of the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and Libya.
The spokesman for the European Commissioner, “Peter Stano,” according to the Italian “Aki” agency, said that the union recognizes the Al-Sarraj government, and still considers it an interlocutor, noting that Greece’s decision to expel the Libyan ambassador does not fall within the authority of the union.
“Stano,” explained that the European Union is still in the process of studying the content of the memo and will announce its position later, stressing that he met the Turkish Foreign Minister, and discussed the subject of the memo, and will be talked about it again during the ministers meeting next Monday, he said.
It is worth noting that the State of Greece decided, on Friday, to expel the Libyan ambassador in Athens after the memorandum of understanding was formally approved by the Presidential Council and Turkish Parliament.
