US Congressman Ted Deutch: Elections must take place in Libya as soon as possible.

US Congressman Ted Deutch said Thursday that all concerned Libyan parties must remain committed to ensuring that presidential and parliamentary elections take place as soon as possible.

Deutch added, in his tweets, that the Libyan people overwhelmingly want to choose their next government, and they have the right to do so in an environment free of violence and intimidation, and under a clearly defined legal framework.

“I support ensuring that elections are free and fair, and urge all parties in Libya to support a non-violence and continued dialogue ,” Deutch added in his tweets.

It is worth noting that the US “Congress” approved last September, the Stability Law in Libya, which provides for imposing sanctions on those obstructing stability and the political process.
