Conte: We seek a ceasefire in Libya and pressure the countries that support the war

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said on Wednesday that his country seeks to reduce the “escalation of the conflict in Libya” quickly; to cease fire by supporting the work of the UN special envoy to Libya.

Conte stressed in statements quoted by the Italian agency “Aki” stability of Libya is a strategic priority for his country, pointing out that another objective is to exert pressure on the major regional powers; to stop support and re-push the political process under permanent international leadership with the firm conviction that there is no military solution to this crisis.
The governments of Egypt, France, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Britain and France called on Tuesday in a statement to stop the escalation immediately and that there can be no military solution in Libya.
