The joint security chamber of Misurata announced on Wednesday the arrest of leading elements of al-Qaeda, including Al-Shawi who is Algerian, and two others wanted internationally in the outskirts of Tripoli.
The Chamber confirmed that the wanted persons were linked to a number of terrorist operations inside Tripoli, pointing out that the force clashed with one of the wanted persons before he had to surrender himself, moreover they confiscated a number of weapons, grenades, ammunition and documents in their household.
The Chamber explained that the wanted persons infiltrated in the last period to Tripoli, taking advantage of the deterioration of the security situation; as a result of the aggression led by the militias of Haftar to the capital, adding that immediately after the preliminary investigation with the accused will be referred to the competent authorities; to complete and take all legal proceedings against them.
It is noteworthy that the government of national accord and the international community are cautious, and said early April, that the aggression on Tripoli will provide a environment for the return of terrorist groups and extremism to Libya.
