Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu revealed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s refusal to meet Haftar, after the latter requested to arrange a meeting with him during a visit to Turkey.
In an interview with the Turkish newspaper, Hurriyet, on Tuesday, Cavusoglu said that Haftar requested a visit to Turkey on the condition that he meet with Erdogan, noting that the Turkish president confirmed that Haftar is not an interlocutor for him, nor is he authorized in Libya.
Cavusoglu made it clear that he is ready to meet Haftar if he decides to visit Turkey, noting that they are historically closest to the eastern side of Libya.
In a related context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that Libyans will make their own decision on the issue of postponing the elections and no one can interfere with them, stressing the need for the elections to be transparent and acceptable to all.
