French Defense: The weapons were not in Libyan hands and were damaged and ready to be destroyed

French Defense Minister Florence Barley said French weapons found in the Gharian were not in Libyan hands and were being sent to protect French elements in Libya, saying they were damaged.

Barley said on Friday that the weapons were not transferred to any of the parties to the conflict, noting that these weapons are damaged and placed in a store in order to destroy them, but conditions in Libya prevented it, she said.

The Libyan army at the eighth headquarters in Gharian found American weapons after the liberation of the city from Hafar forces and proved the dependency of these weapons to France after the French Ministry of Defense admitted that the weapons in Gharian are for a French military unit to perform a mission in Libya. It is noteworthy that Foreign Minister Mohamed Sayala said Thursday, to his French counterpart, “Jean-Yves Laudrian” to explain how did French weapons arrived to the Haftar forces.
