US President Donald Trump confirmed his country’s support for the national reconciliation government and everyone working in the framework of the political agreement to overcome divisions in Libya.
In a congratulatory letter to the head of the presidential council of the Al-Wefaq government, Al-Sarraj reiterated his congratulation of the 76th anniversary of Libya’s independence, reaffirming the United States’ commitment to support the Libyan people and building a realistic constitutional process and elections, in accordance with the UN political plan.
“We are proud to stand with the Libyans who take advantage of the opportunity to build a safer and more successful future, and we are commitmed to continue working with Libya, the United Nations and international partners to reach a united and stable Libyan government,” Trump said.
The Libyan King Idriss Al-Senoussi, declared the independence of Libya on 24 December 1951 from the city of Benghazi.
