Undersecretary of Transportation: The Airlines Increase Prices Due to Higher Foreign Exchange

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications of the Al-Wefaq government, Hisham Abushkiwat, on Friday, justified the 183% increase in the prices of flights announced by the airlines by having to increase the fees on the exchange rate imposed by the reforms.

In a statement to ArraedLg, Abushkiwat explained that the reforms did not exclude the airlines it did with heads of households, students and patients, adding that the new prices will include all companies, including private ones.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications confirmed that the company Brega sells fuel to airlines at an unsupported price on foreign trips and that the operating takes 60% in foreign currency.

Abushkiwat clarified that the new prices will also include flights, but with a slight increase as fuel is subsidized on domestic flights.

The official spokesman of the African Airlines Amran Zabadi had stated to ArraedLg network that the company will raise the ticket prices to about three times starting from the first of December, and this was also announced by the Libyan Airlines.
