The head of the Supreme Council Khalid Khalid Al-Meshri said that the position of the Council is identical to the position of the Presidential Council (PC), which refuses to transfer the post of supreme commander of the Libyan army to the commander of Al-Karama forces Khalifa Hifter.
In an interview with Libya Al-Ahrar channel, on Sunday, Al-Meshri said that Hifter exerted pressure on the president of the presidential council, Fayez al-Sarraj, by negotiating the post of commander-in-chief of the army in exchange for the remaining presidential elections.
In a related context, Al-Meshri pointed out that the relationship between Hifter and the House of Representatives (HOR) is “out of control”, saying that “Hifter lost the House of Representatives by bypassing them even though they’ve granted him the legitimacy to be a higher commander.”
Al-Meshri explained that they agree with Hifter to name the restructuring of the military institution instead of consolidating the military establishment, stressing the need to resume the unification of the military establishment from the inside of Libya.
The President of the Supreme Council of State Khaled Al-Meshri, said that he had invited the Speaker of the House of Representatives Auqila Saleh to visit Tripoli, stressing the possibility of meeting them in the capital soon.
