A member of the Electoral Commission, Abu Baker Marda, said that PM Abdul Hamid Dbaiba’s proposal to form a committee and draft an election law must first be referred to the HoR in its capacity as the legislative body.
Abu Baker added, in a statement to the “Fawasil” media outlet, that the commission is only waiting for what it receives from the legislative authorities, and that the executive body will only provide material support to it.
The member of the commission clarified that their readiness to implement the laws of Parliament depends on the type of election, the consequent obligations and whether they need new regulations or not, and view the features of the new legislation, and then determining the timetable for the elections.
