Guterres: We hope to hold elections in Libya in the first half of this year.

The Secretary-General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, said that his Special Adviser, Stephanie Williams, carries out all contacts and all forms of mediation; Hoping to create the conditions for holding elections in the first quarter of this year.

Guterres added in a press conference on Friday that holding the elections is very important for the Libyan people, and the choice of holding the elections is in their hands, noting that the parliamentary and presidential elections should have been held together before the end of last year.

It is worth noting that the Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General for Libya, Stephanie Williams, said in a statement to “Sputnik” that what the Libyans need is the ability to go to the polls, choose an elected government that enjoys sovereignty, and helps in unifying institutions.
