Al-Mayhoub: Parliament will not retract the presidential election law issued by them.

The Chairman of the Defense and National Security Committee in the HoR, “Talal Al-Mayhoub”, said on Monday that the House will not retreat from the wording of the law issued by them regarding the presidential elections.

Al-Mayhoub added, in a statement to Sputnik, that the possible scenario that he would put up for consultation in the coming days includes the formation of a committee of constitutional law experts; To amend some texts of the draft constitution and then put it to a referendum, “providing that the date of the elections will then be determined based on voting on the constitution .”

Al-Mayhoub indicated that many MPs agree on this matter at the present time, in light of the exclusion of consensus between the Supreme State and Parliament.

The head of the Electoral Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, confirmed in press statements that only the House of Representatives decides to postpone or keep the date set for implementing the electoral process.
