MP Jibril Auhaida said in a statement to Arraed on Wednesday that the committee formed by the parliament to communicate with the commission aims to identify the obstacles facing the commission and the extent of its ability to complete this electoral process with regard to the full logistical aspects.
Auhaida added that the committee will verify several things through the commission’s report that will be presented to the parliament, including ensuring that the commission conducts fair and transparent elections in a secure manner, and ensuring that security matters are progressing at a good pace and that it can secure all centers in all Libyan cities and ensure that monitors reach all centers and follow up the electoral process from opening boxes to closing them and starting sorting.
The commission report includes, according to what the MP confirmed. whether there observers who can cover all the electoral centers in addition to an international neutral oversight, and can the candidates’ agents and observers have access to all the boxes and centers? Are there guarantees that the election results will be recognized as a charter of honor signed by all candidates for the presidential elections, which is the most important?
Auhaida believed that if things are going well, the elections are our demand, and if things are “twisted” in one way or another, we will reach “twisted” elections and a bad result may result in bad things that complicate the scene.
The MP believed that the commission did not have any abuses, as it works according to the elections law and is progressing at a good pace, and what has been done so far is good and there is no need to comment on it.
