The High Elections Commission said that its constituencies in Tripoli, Sabha and Benghazi had received 23 applications to run for the presidential elections, as of last Thursday.
The Commission added on its official page that the number of candidates for the House of Representatives, whose documents are registered in all electoral districts, has reached 1231 candidates so far.
The Commission confirmed that accepting the files is a preliminary acceptance, and that it will refer the files of the applicants for candidacy to the Attorney General, the Criminal Investigation Agency, and the General Directorate of Passports and Nationality, to determine the extent to which their data conform to the conditions specified in the law.
It is worth noting that the High Elections Commission has set November 22 as the last date for applying for the presidential elections, and December 7 as the date for accepting the files of candidates for the parliamentary elections.
