Sources from the city of Benghazi confirmed to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper that Khalid Haftar, who heads the 106th Brigade, stipulated that all militias belonging to his battalion bring their electoral cards in exchange for the payment of their salaries for this month.
The newspaper added, quoting the same sources, that the security officers in all the military barracks belonging to Haftar and his sons told their members that they would take strict measures against those who were proven not to have brought the election card, up to preventing them from receiving this month’s salary.
The sources revealed that a circular issued by Khalid Haftar imposes on all members of his militia the necessity of coming to their camps starting from next December 20; To put in place a mechanism for transporting them to the polling stations to vote for Haftar in the elections scheduled to take place on the 24th of the same month.
It is worth noting that Khalifa Haftar announced on November 16 his candidacy for the presidential elections scheduled for December 24.
