Al-Jazawi: The Anti-Cybercrime Law is good, but it contains an article restricting freedoms.

Member of Parliament Saad Al-Jazwi said in a statement to Arraed, Thursday, that the law against cybercrime is generally good, but there is an article in which there may be a limitation of freedoms, stressing that the law can be developed and amended.

Al-Jazawi added that there is only an article restricting freedoms, which is the article that stipulates “punishment by imprisonment for a period of one year with a fine of between one thousand and ten thousand for anyone who mixes sounds or images with a person without his permission.” He pointed out that the law was drafted by specialists and legal experts, and its existence is considered a gain.

Al-Jazawi saw that anything presented by the House of Representatives now is no longer acceptable; As a result of distrust after it got itself into many problems and criticism, the result is the division and the difference in vision between the two divided sides in the country.

The council member stated that some deputies demanded to know the affiliation of the National Authority for Information Security and Safety, and whether it is a security watch or what?

Al-Jazawi explained that they suffer from the absence of some of the members of the House of Representatives; Because of the general state of frustration, some parliamentarians say that the time is over and we have no role.

In a related context, Al-Jazawi confirmed that the presidency asked the Head of the election Commission to submit something in writing regarding the proposed amendments, and we expected him to submit it, but he did not, because we were in session.

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives approved the Anti-Cybercrime Law by a majority, and the penalties for the law range from a fine of 10,000 dinars to imprisonment for a period of no less than 5 years as a maximum penalty.
