The Commission announces its plan for the presidential and parliamentary elections and expects to open candidacy for them in mid-November.

On Sunday, the head of the High Elections Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, announced the commission’s plan to implement the presidential and parliamentary elections, based on the laws for the election of the President of the State and the election of the House of Representatives issued this year by Parliament.

Al-Sayeh added, during a press conference in Tripoli, that the plan relied on synchronizing the two processes in terms of procedures, provided that the date for the election of the president would be set, based on a proposal from the Commission, while the second round of the presidential elections coincides with the parliamentary elections in one day.

Al-Sayeh explained that the HNEC Council will announce the results of each of the two processes simultaneously when each of them is completed, noting the launch of a proactive process to publish the lists of voters in the polling stations; To provide an opportunity for appeals, and for voters to verify their names for the purpose of receiving their cards tomorrow, Monday.

Al-Sayeh added that the commission will publish, on Sunday, the recommendation lists as a proactive step aimed at giving enough space to prepare them and submit them as one of the candidacy documents.

Al-Sayeh expected to open the door for candidacy for the parliamentary and presidential elections in the first half of this month, in conjunction with the delivery of voter cards.

It is worth noting that the roadmap, which was adopted in November 2020 in Tunisia by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, adopted the 24th of next December as the date for holding the parliamentary and presidential elections.
