The United Nations urged Libya’s neighboring countries and the international community to provide “strong” support for the plan to gradually withdraw mercenaries and foreign fighters, which was agreed upon by the 5+5 Committee on 12 October.
Spokesman for the Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said – in a press conference – on Friday, that he hopes that the international community will provide strong support for the implementation of the action plan, including the countries of the region, after the “5 + 5” Joint Military Committee agreed on an action plan to expel the mercenaries. and foreign fighters from Libyan territory, and after the ministerial meeting I chaired in Tripoli.
Dujarric stated that additional observers will be gradually deployed in Sirte, once the necessary security and logistical arrangements are in place, after the first regiment of international observers arrives in Tripoli.
It is worth noting that the Military Committee agreed in early October to withdraw all foreign mercenaries from Libya within three months.
