The African Union sends a mission to support elections in Libya.

Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who is assigned to the Libyan file by the African Union, sent a mission to Libya weeks before the December elections.

The Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Claude Gakosso, said that the tasks of the African Union mission include collecting information and conducting an assessment, to support the course of the presidential elections scheduled for the end of the year.

Gakosso said – in a statement to AFP – on Monday, that the delegation will meet with senior political and religious officials and active personalities in the country, and looks forward to meeting the Libyans in Cairo and Tunis.

Gakosso added that the 12-person mission will return to Brazzaville; To give a briefing to Sassou Nguesso, who will participate in a summit on Libya organized by France on November 12.
