On Sunday, French Foreign Minister Jean Le Drian stressed the need to respect the date of the elections scheduled to be held in Libya on December 24, considering holding them on time as an inevitable matter.

In an interview with Al Arabiya Channel, Le Drian announced that his country would host a conference on Libya in the French capital, Paris, on November 12, stressing the need for parallel presidential and legislative elections to take place on December 24 of this year.

Le Drian stressed the need to move firmly towards holding these elections “so that the Libyans regain their sovereignty and decide their future, stressing the insistence of his country and international partners to put an end to foreign interference in Libya and the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries from it.”
