Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said that the current situation in Libya has increased the importance of holding elections “in light of the risk of violence and instability.”
During the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York on Tuesday, Di Maio called on the Libyan parties to work to reach an agreement on the elections, especially in light of recent developments and the parliament’s decision to withdraw confidence from the government.
It is worth noting that the House of Representatives announced, on Tuesday, the withdrawal of confidence from the national unity government, considering it a caretaker government.
