Libya’s delegate to the UN, Al-Taher Al-Sunni, called on all countries to commit to implementing the outputs of the 5 + 5 military committee, especially the exit of foreign forces and foreign mercenaries, and to work to fully implement the ceasefire, in accordance with the outcomes of Berlin.
Al-Sunni added during his speech at the Security Council session on Friday, that the United Nations must hurry to send a team to support and to see the requirements of the elections scheduled to be held next December, and to learn how to overcome obstacles and ensure that elections are held in all cities of Libya in a successful and transparent manner, without doubting the results later.
Al-Sunni stressed the necessity that the role of the observers team related to supporting the military committee and its outputs should remain in accordance with the requirements of the committee, and that the team maintain its civilian form, and should not be transformed in any way into a military force on the ground.
It is worth noting that the Security Council held, on Saturday, a session to consider the article entitled The situation in Libya, in which the UN envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, gave his briefing on the latest developments in Libya.
