US Assistant Secretary of State from Tripoli: Our goal is to hold free and fair elections without foreign interference in Libya.

US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Joy Hood, said during his visit to Tripoli on Tuesday that his country’s goal is to hold free and fair elections in Libya, without foreign interference, according to the roadmap of the political agreement.

“Hood” added during a press conference accompanied by Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush, that they are in positive contact with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, to support the government for holding fair and honest elections, calling on all internal and external parties to fully implement the ceasefire agreement, looking forward to seeing the constitutional base on which the elections will be held next December.

Hood stressed his country’s rejection of any armed intervention or foreign military interaction of all kinds, stressing the importance of the points that were agreed upon through the political roadmap for holding elections and for national reconciliation.

It is worth noting that the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Joy Hood, accompanied the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, and a delegation from the US State Department, visited the capital, Tripoli, and met with the head of the National Unity Government and Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush.
