Al Tadhamon Organization: 236 victims of mines from May 2020 until March 2021.

Al Tadhamon for Human Rights recorded 236 victims; As a result of mines and remnants of war between May 2020 and March 2021, of whom 93 were killed, 143 wounded, 69% of whom were civilians.

The organization documented, in a statement on Sunday, 25 victims; As a result of mines in 2019, 11 people were killed and 14 injured.

The organization stated that the number of victims of mines and explosives of war from 2008 to 2019 amounted to 436 dead, and 2,915 wounded.

The organization confirmed that the increase in mine victims compared to 2019 is due to the mines and booby traps planted by Haftar’s militia and mercenaries of the “Wagner” in residential areas and health facilities in southern Tripoli and the city of Sirte.

The organization indicated that the total of what has been removed from mines and war remnants in all Libyan regions since 2011 amounted to one million remnants of war and 54 tons of small arms ammunition.

It is worth noting that the United Nations earlier estimated that Libya was contaminated with about 20 million mines and explosives of war.
