On Sunday, the envoy of the Chadian Transitional Military Council, Abdel-Karim Idris, discussed with the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mariam Al-Mahdi, arrangements for the disarmament and demobilization of the two countries’ militias inside Libya.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said – in a statement – that the two parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and how Chad could benefit from Sudan’s transitional experience, according to the Anadolu Agency.
The two parties discussed the challenges facing the two countries, and the reintegration of Sudanese and Chadian militias present in Libya.
President Idriss Deby was killed last month during battles against rebels in northern Chad who were present in training camps inside Libya under the supervision of Haftar’s militias.
It is reported that a United Nations report revealed in February 2020 that mercenaries from the “Darfur” region were fighting in the ranks of Haftar’s militias in Libya.
