The American ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, said Tuesday that his appointment as a special envoy for his country, in addition to his duties as ambassador, is an indication that the United States has strengthened its diplomatic focus in Libya.
Norland added, in a video recording, that his appointment comes within the framework of supporting the priority set by the Libyan people, which was approved by the Security Council, which includes ensuring the holding of free and fair elections on the 24th of next December, the implementation of the ceasefire, and the withdrawal of all foreign forces from the country.
It is worth noting that the US State Department appointed Richard Norland on Monday as its special envoy to Libya, in addition to carrying out the duties of ambassador to Libya.
