On Monday, the Chairman of the Justice and Construction Party, Mohamed Sawan, told the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, that holding presidential elections and choosing a president by direct election is an important step to unify the country and its institutions, in addition to the parliamentary elections.
Sawan’s statement came during his meeting with the UN envoy to Libya “Jan Kubis” at the party’s headquarters in Tripoli, accompanied by his deputy for political affairs and relations, Nizar Kawan.
For his part, “Kubis” stressed the importance of pushing for the elections to be completed on time and cooperating with the political parties present in the country, the most important of which is the Justice and Construction Party.
Kubis pointed to the need to present the constitutional base to the House of Representatives at its next session, calling on all political parties to put pressure in the direction of preparing for the next phase.
In the same context, the party’s vice president, Nizar Kawan, stressed the need to complete the amendment of the sovereign positions in accordance with what was agreed upon in the Road Map.
It is worth noting that the Chairman of the Justice and Construction Party, Mohamed Sawan, said on April 4 that the government and the responsible authorities should be pressured to hold the elections on time.
