In the latest developments regarding the issue of the ruling family in the Kingdom of Jordan, Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi said, “The Jordanian authorities have succeeded in neutralizing the growing threat of the former Crown Prince, Prince Hamzah,” adding that the prince “was aiming to present himself as an alternative ruler in the kingdom.”
Safadi said in statements to the American “Wall Street Journal”, Tuesday, that the activities of “Prince Hamzah” were aimed at destabilizing and trying to ride the wave, as he believed that the opposition would do the job, “indicating that things are under control and that the threats and movements are completely contained, according to him.
Safadi indicated that Prince Hamzah was not an immediate threat. Rather, he intended to stoke discontent in the Jordanian street about the economy, and that his campaign did not reach the point of a coup.
Arab media circulated a video recording of the former Crown Prince of Jordan, in which he denies the charges against him of destabilizing security and attempting to overthrow the government, and in which he refuses to abide by the orders directed to him by the Chief of Staff of the Jordanian Army for house arrest, and not to mix with anyone and prevent him from tweeting on his Twitter account.
For her part, Queen Noor, the widow of the late Jordanian monarch King Hussein, denied the accusations against her son, the former Crown Prince, Prince Hamzah, of carrying out actions aimed at the stability of the kingdom, describing it as a “sinful shame.” The Queen tweeted, “I pray that truth and justice will prevail for all the innocent victims of this sinful indecency. May Allah bless them and protect them.
Prince Hamzah was the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Jordan from 1999 until 2004, after that Prince Abdullah II removed him from the position and assigned his son Prince Al Hussein to the position of Crown Prince.
