The former UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama, said on Tuesday that the “Turkish intervention” had altered the balance of military forces on the ground and “made the Libyans request a return to dialogue and a return to its three tracks after it was stopped in March 2020.”
Salama added – during an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram – that the mission has developed a general engineering of what the solution should be in Libya through three tracks that work simultaneously, namely: the financial, economic, political and military track, or the so-called 5 + 5, each These tracks began operating the day after the Berlin summit, and worked until the end of March.
It is worth noting that the Government of National Accord signed in November 2019 a naval and military agreement with Turkey, after Haftar’s attack on Tripoli in April with the support of Egypt, the Emirates, Russia and France.
