Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said Tuesday that his country will open a consulate in Benghazi and an honorary consulate in the south.
According to the Italian “Nova” agency, Di Maio added that his country’s government will revitalize a series of economic opportunities for Italian companies that could not remain in Libya.
Di Maio stressed that Italian diplomacy is returning once again to play an essential role in Libya after the war stopped, recalling Italy’s role in bringing together all Libyan actors at the first meeting of the Berlin Conference.
It is worth noting that Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio visited Libya on March 25, accompanied by the French and German Foreign Ministers, to meet with Prime Minister Abdul-Hamdi Dbaiba and Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush.
