The Joint Military Committee “5 + 5” confirmed Tuesday, that all requirements and arrangements for opening the coastal road Misurata-Sirte are nearing completion, and that a meeting will soon be held by the committee to assess the readiness to open the road within a maximum period of two weeks.
In a final statement of the Sirte meetings, the committee stated that it is continuing efforts to expel foreign fighters and mercenaries from the country, calling on the Security Council and the Committee to follow up the outcomes of the Berlin Conference to oblige countries that have mercenaries and foreign fighters to withdraw them immediately from Libyan territory.
A member of the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee, Brigadier Mukhtar Al-Naqasa, said, in a statement to Arraed on February, that the committee had set February 10, to clear mines and remnants of war in Sirte, in preparation for the opening of the coastal road.
