The British “Middle East Monitor” website reported that the Russian “Wagner” mercenaries present in Libya, estimated at 2,000, are continuing their work inside the country, supported by fighter planes sent by Russia, despite expectations that they will leave last month.
The site indicated, on Wednesday, that Russia is not yet ready to consider the file of the withdrawal of its “forces” that support Haftar, and the departure of the country that has the largest proven oil reserves in Africa, according to the site.
The website said that sending international peacekeepers to the Sirte Al-Jafra region will force the “Wagner” to withdraw completely from the city; Unless Russia has resorted to blocking the sending of forces through the Security Council.
The website stated that the “Wagner” mercenaries withdrew some of their forces from Sirte and Al-Jufra to the adjacent areas; Following internal and local pressure to appear as if it withdrew, before it became clear that these mercenaries were still in control of the region.
It is worth noting that the media center for the Volcano of Anger operation confirmed, on Wednesday, that the “Wagner” mercenaries still continuing to dig trenches between Sirte and Al-Jufra and up to the half way gate “Khoshum Akher ” with a length of 70 km.
