On Monday, Italy strongly condemned the attack on Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha, expressing solidarity with the minister and the security personnel who believe in Bashagha.

Italy affirmed its stand by Libya at this crucial stage on its road towards security, stability and prosperity, and its full support for the work of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the work of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General, Jan Kubis

It is worth noting that the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, was exposed on Sunday to an assassination attempt in which one of his bodyguards was injured and one of the attackers was killed and the others were arrested.
